Job Summary
The Division Director for the UCSF Alliance Health Project is the chief executive officer for the agency; they are responsible for ensuring high quality service delivery, integrating administrative, fiscal, and programmatic systems, and providing leadership to fund development activities. In this role, the Division Director is also responsible for being alert to the “big picture”; anticipating and incorporating needed changes in service delivery while evaluating the impact of policy shifts, or other external environmental changes on the agency. Within the Department of Psychiatry, liaises with leadership and facilitates important change initiatives.
The Alliance Health Project (AHP) provides a wide range of mental health services to persons living with HIV/AIDS, as well as members of the LGBTQ community living with serious mental health challenges. AHP also provides publications and trainings for health care professionals and volunteers. Since AHP’s founding in 1984, AHP has served thousands of clients, counselors and clinicians, justifying its reputation as one of the leading HIV and LGBTQ mental health agencies in San Francisco — a reputation achieved by anticipating and addressing the challenges of the communities AHP serves.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Psychology or Social Work or related area and minimum eight years related experience, including minimum of 7 years lead/supervisory experience or equivalent combination of training/experience
- At least 5 years’ experience in HIV service sector required, must be sensitive to and knowledgeable about the needs of sexual and ethnic minorities in the service sector.
- In depth knowledge of applicable federal, state and local laws, rules and regulations. Ability to apply policy knowledge to improve workflow and protocols.
- Advanced ability to effectively lead subordinate managers and supervisors to achieve objectives, uphold professional standards and develop leadership ability.
- Excellent skills in all aspects of successfully directing behavioral care program / department including developing strategic plans, creating benchmarks, integrating programs and functions, and fiscal management.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to foster collaborative decision making and communication across multiple units and disciplines.
- Verbal and written communication skills to address critical, sensitive situations. Advanced active listening, persuasion and counseling skills.
- Knowledge of business software, specialized applications and electronic medical records systems used in behavioral health clinics / clinical departments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with fundraising and development concepts and strategies is strongly desired.
- Prior UCSF, UC or SFDPH experience
- Bi-Lingual
- Masters of Arts Clinical Psychology or Social Work plus a minimum of three years clinical and counseling experience.
- Experience in the treatment of multiply diagnosed patients (people living with HIV, severe mental illnesses and substance use disorders)
- Licensed by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences as LCSW, MFT or LPCC
