Our Mission
Together We Rise is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. Our vision is to improve the lives of children in foster care throughout America who often find themselves forgotten and neglected by the public. We collaborate with community partners to bring resources to youth in foster care and use service-learning activities to educate volunteers on issues surrounding the foster care system. Our foundation has allowed us to provide thousands of foster youth across the country with new bicycles, college supplies, and sweet cases so that children do not have to travel from home to home with their belongings in a trash bag.
The Position
We have an exciting opportunity for the right individual to join our team as Fundraising & Event Planning Associate. The position is responsible for front-line support for all Together We Rise events whether virtual, physical or hybrid for a global audience. This position is unique in that it requires the thoughtful planning of events while also managing fiduciary responsibilities as a fundraiser.
The Daily
Gala/National Fundraiser Responsibilities:
- Responsible for planning, coordinating and implementing events designed to raise funds for and to promote community awareness of Together We Rise programs and services
- Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward appropriate donors with an emphasis on maximizing revenue through events
- Lead all procurement efforts for orders of items pertaining to events, including vendor selection and negotiation
- Coordinate and schedule committee meetings ensuring members availability is considered
- Prepare meeting minutes with summarized action points
- Ensure action points have been completed by their respective member
- Draft customized letters for members to send and sell event tickets to their network;
- Responsible for collating committees’ address book contacts and mailing letters out
- Ensure robust participation of event including sponsorships, physical donations, etc.
- Manage gala seating plan ensuring guest names are collected timely
- Motivate and inspire committee members by continuously checking on status
Additional Event Responsibilities include:
- Managing third party fundraisers, event silent auctions and direct day of event donations.
- Manage all invitations, RSVP’s, and dietary requirements
- Manage budgets, fundraising targets, and financial reporting
- Recruit, brief, and manage charity volunteers
- Process auction bids, payments, donations, and pledges
- Manage delivery and receipt of auction lots and prizes post-event
- Manage all tickets sales, including payment processing and mail outs
- Provide day-of-event coordination support as needed
- Perform all tasks ensuring seamless registration and check-out
- Perform other development projects as needed

- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or a related field
- Customer service skills to be applied when working with donors, volunteers, vendors, etc.
- Forward-thinker who actively seeks opportunities and proposes solutions.
- Excellent time management, prioritizing, and organizational skills.
- Minimum of 3 years – Professional fundraising experience
- Minimum of 3 years – Event planning experience
- Minimum of 3 years – Relationship management skills
