Overview

Outreach Program: In collaboration with Alameda County Health Care Services, SLHP provides targeted community outreach and health education to residents of Frutivale and surrounding zip codes, primarily with newly immigrated, low wage workers, and day laborers with an emphasis on the Mam community. SLHP coordinates with coalition members on developing and disseminating public health messages for the target population focused on COVID-19 containment strategies through a variety of platforms including, but not limited to, social media, physical collateral, and health education events. 

Position Summary: The Outreach Coordinator will work closely with staff and contractors to execute the outreach activities. The Outreach Coordinator will provide administrative support to the Program Manager via data management, coordination of program-related events, coordination of outreach, and reporting. In addition, the Outreach Coordinator will ensure program activities are on track and support the Program Manager as needed. This position is currently funded through December 3, 2024, with the potential of extension based on the procurement of funding. 

Outreach Coordination 

  • Coordinate and support outreach activities, ensuring that activities are performed effectively and documented for reporting purposes.
    • Coordinate outreach activities for internal and external teams
    • Ensure accurate and timely tracking of data. 
    • Compile and decipher data for monthly reports in a timely manner. 
  • Coordinate, organize, and execute street outreach at day laborer stops and events. 
    • Engage in effective outreach by connecting community members to SLHP services and providing education to the community on various health topics and resources.
    • Coordinate and organize educational and informational material to use for health education and dissemination.
    • Support organizing and compiling outreach data for reporting purposes with guidance from the Program Manager. 
  • Support preparation for organizational and grant reports in compliance with County reporting requirements. 
    • Compile and collect data for reporting purposes.
    • Ensure reporting data is correct and accurately collected with support from Program Manager

Program Administration 

  • Support Program Manager in facilitation of Team Meetings:
    • Support identifying agenda items and topics. 
    • Encourage the participation of all team members ensuring a collaborative and equitable environment
  • Compile outreach information and identify crucial information to be shared with the Program Manager and leadership team with the goal of using data for advocacy at the county and city levels. 
  • Attend all County meetings and amplify SLHP activities and community to advocate for community needs. 
  • Coordinate and organize all aspects of the vaccination clinic. 
    • Oversee stock of supplies and inventory, ensure the clinic is well stocked of supplies for all activities. 
    • Coordinate covid clinic logistics, including but not limited to: supply inventory, assignment of roles, coordination of time and location.
    • Support Program Manager in identifying potential locations for vaccine clinics.
    • Support all programmatic activities with direction from the Program Manager. 

Organizational Support 

  • Attend and participate in staff meetings and retreats, collaborate on the decision-making process, coordinate department weekly meetings, and collaborate with other program managers, staff, and leadership as needed.
  • Attend and participate in weekly staff meetings and ongoing retreats and workshops.
    • Support SLHP staff in a collective decision-making process, sustaining a safe workplace and contributing to a culture of self-care and work/life balance.
    • Attend and participate in weekly department meetings and staff training sessions. 
    • Support with organizational events as needed (Holiday Party, Dia De Los Muertos, May Day)
    • Engage and participate in organizational visioning, strategic planning, and ongoing programmatic decision-making.
    • Participate in meetings and collaborations among program staff as needed
    • Support the development of a growing program with creativity and innovation.

Required Skills and Qualifications: 

  • This position requires bilingual fluency in Spanish/English with strong oral and written communication skills. Mam speaking applicants are highly encouraged 
  • Must be able to drive and have a valid CA License 
  • Proficient in Google Workplace, Microsoft Office, and basic computer skills.
  • High level of self-direction, with an ability to complete competing tasks effectively and in a timely manner.   
  • Must be flexible, adaptable with a team oriented approach and a desire to work collaboratively with team members and other programs.
  • Strong communication skills: including facilitation, mediation and conflict resolution. 
  • Must be able to work in a non-traditional work environment with a large quantity of community members and multitask in an independent fashion.
  • Must be able to lead and work within a growing and evolving program.
  • Minimum of two years of staff supervision or program management experience.
  • Interpersonal skills that demonstrate the ability to interact with diverse communities: including staff, funders, business leaders, community partners and clients. 
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, integrity, and a personal approach that values all individuals and respects differences regarding race, ethnicity, age, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, religion, ability, socio-economic circumstance, immigration status, and record of arrest or conviction.

Skills and Experience Preferred: 

  • Knowledge of current events and issues affecting day laborers and newly arrived communities.  
  • Have knowledge of local organizations to aid in the recruitment of volunteers.  
  • Trilingual Mam, Spanish and English is a plus.   
  • Experience in Microsoft Excel, SPSS, EMR systems and Salesforce is highly desired.
  • Experience with data management, analysis and collection. 
  • Experience with community engagement, building and support.  
  • Experience advocating and providing services to communities with limited literacy in Spanish and English, low-income, undocumented immigrants and communities impacted by trauma and/or substance abuse.   
  • Experience with recruitment and outreach in a wide variety of settings: schools, community events, churches/faith communities and health systems. 
  • Knowledge of Alameda County resources, community organizations, and health systems. 
  • Knowledge of local county, state and national immigration systems.
