Overview

The role of the Program Director will help align and cultivate the strategic development of the 49ers Foundation’s direct programs, 49ers PREP presented by U.S. Bank (youth health/wellness, flag football), and 49ers EDU presented by Chevron (STEAM education). The Director’s primary responsibilities are to represent the youth-focused mission of the 49ers Foundation, ensure impact-driven program development, manage program operations, maintain strong oversight of program budgets, and manage a program team to ensure a unified execution of Foundation initiatives and organizational priorities. Additionally, the Director keeps consistent communication with executive leadership and program stakeholders. This position also requires frequent close collaboration and coordination with its counterpart, the Director of Philanthropy and Strategic Partnerships. The Director must be highly motivated, a great communicator, organized, enthusiastic, hardworking, and have a proven track record of both program oversight and internal and external collaboration. The Director reports to the 49ers Foundation Executive Director and works closely with the 49ers Vice President of Community Impact.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Leads program development and strategy.
  • Leads budget management and funder engagement in partnership with 49ers Foundation Executive Director and Philanthropy and Strategic Partnerships team.
  •  Assesses current state and determines opportunities to develop and improve core program research and data needs. Develops a data driven culture for our programs.
  • Generates and implements ideas for systems, programs, and operational improvement.
  • Actively maintains and grows relationships with program staff, nonprofit partners, executive leadership, funders, and corporate partners.
  • Provides team with clear direction and promotes a dynamic working climate. Motivates and empowers staff, fostering a collaborative approach across the department and organization.
  • Collaborates with 49ers Foundation Executive Director on internal/external communications that effectively and persuasively shares the impact and meaning of programs.
  • Produces written materials (proposals, program presentations) for various audiences, including executive leadership, funders, Board of Directors, and other key stakeholders.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent degree and at least 8-10 years’ of relevant work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience leading diverse teams.
  • Experience in coordination and administration of education or youth empowerment curriculum as well as implementation and evaluation of program effectiveness.
  • Experience collaborating with groups representing marginalized communities, low-income communities, and other historically disenfranchised groups
  • Experience with Microsoft Suite, including Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Preferred experience with CRM (examples: Salesforce, Raiser’s Edge). Proven track record of success in relationship management, impact narratives, and fundraising

The employee will be sitting in a typical office environment the majority of the time and will be exposed to outdoor weather conditions when observing outdoor programs.

The employee is frequently required to sit, use hands or fingers, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms. The employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

This position requires the ability to work extended hours and/or weekends.

This position has a hybrid schedule: some on-site at office or out in the field, some work from home

 

Travel:

Up to 30% of local travel time and <5% of intra and interstate travel requiring overnight stay are expected for this position.
