Overview

The Development Associate will have a direct impact on helping PPLA’s Development Department meet an ambitious annual fundraising goal. Reporting to the Chief Development Officer, the Associate will be essential in providing the highest level of administrative support to the Chief Development Officer and Development team. Additionally, in partnership with the Senior Director, Philanthropy, the Associate will assist in prospect research and portfolio management.

Our Ideal Candidate will have the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience required
  • At least two (2) years’ experience in non-profit Development or comparable work experience
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work externally with donors, board members, and volunteers; as well as internally with frontline fundraisers and PPLA staff including C-Suite management
  • Solid organizational skills; ability to set priorities, follow through, and accomplish objectives
  • Strong computer and constituent management skills including proficiency in Microsoft (Word, Outlook, Excel), Raiser’s Edge (or similar database), Research Point, Wealth Engine, and the internet
  • Availability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends as required
  • Ability and willingness to travel within Los Angeles County
  • Reliable means of transportation for onsite and off-site work
  • If using a personal vehicle to drive for work purposes, a valid CA driver license and current auto insurance in compliance with the minimum requirements of CA vehicle code are required

About the position:

  • Performs as the admin for the Chief Development Officer including scheduling, expense reports and other duties as assigned
  • Coordinates the Chief Development Officer’s calendar and schedule
  • Coordinates the Development Department meetings and calendar
  • Provides support for fundraising and stewardship events as assigned including tracking event attendance, follow-up calls, prepare name badges, assemble mailings, and work at events
  • Provide support of Planned Parenthood Advocacy Project Los Angeles County as assigned by the Chief Development Officer
  • Provide excellent customer service through coverage of Development Department phone line, email, and PPLA’s HQ front desk
  • Ensures that all relevant donor portfolio information is recorded and maintained in Raiser’s Edge using the established Development guidelines
  • Coordinates cross-department pledge reminder process, tracking Philanthropy gift pledges to ensure timely payment
  • Complete VIP forms on Philanthropy team gifts and liaise with data entry team
  • Supports the Development Department in all fundraising activities as needed. Attend events as assigned. Some evening and weekends required
