Overview
Planned Parenthood Los Angeles is seeking an experienced Associate Medical Director, Clinical Programs with excellent clinical skills to work full-time in our Downtown Los Angeles Headquarters and health centers. Responsible for patient services clinical service delivery. This includes: the laboratory, residency programs, Adolescent Medicine, Behavioral Health, licensed staff education, and the Sedation Program. This position reports to the Chief Operating Officer and assists the Chief Medical Officer with the overall management of all PPLA medical services in addition to above specialty areas.

Our Ideal Candidate will have the following qualifications:
- Licensed to practice medicine in the state of California; Board certified in family medicine or obstetrics and gynecology
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience supervising professional and medical staff including 5-7 years demonstrated healthcare leadership
- 5 years’ experience in Family Practice with Reproductive and Behavioral Health preferred or 5 years’ experience in Obstetrics and Gynecology
- Broad knowledge of the current health care environment
- Experience working successfully with diverse communities
- Skills in strategic, financial, and program planning and implementation
- Understanding of the principles and practices of education, counseling, and youth development
- Excellent written and oral presentation skills
- Ability and willingness to travel within Los Angeles County as needed
Operations:
- Work closely with Chief Operating Officer and Chief Medical Officer to ensure the successful implementation of patient services operational and strategic goals
- Oversee the laboratory, including supervision of management personnel and oversight of daily operations to comply with all regulatory requirements and quality controls
- Oversee the planning, development, implementation, expansion, and performance of the Behavioral Health program, including supervision of department leadership
- Coordinate with healthcare partners in the development of the Adolescent Medicine Program and oversee the implementation, expansion, and performance of the program
- Oversee the planning, development, implementation, expansion, and performance of the Sedation Program
- Oversee the management of PPLA’s residency programs in compliance with Medical Standards & Guidelines
- In partnership with the Training Department, oversee the management of education for licensed staff to ensure quality and compliance with all current medical standards
- Ensure overall health service compliance with legal, contractual, ethical, and regulatory standards and requirements of federal, state and county laws, regulations, funding sources and licensing agencies
- Ensure patient services adherence to affiliate policies, procedures, and practices
Essential Medical Duties:
- Serve as the Laboratory Director for the laboratory
- In cooperation with the Chief Medical Officer, establish, review at least annually, maintain, and assure implementation of medical policies, procedures, and protocols that are in compliance with Medical Standards and Guidelines
- In cooperation with the Chief Medical Officer, ensure that the quality of medical services provided meets appropriate professional standards
- Ensure the appropriate selection, delineation of clinical privileges, training, supervision, and evaluation of licensed staff for the Adolescent Medicine Program, the Sedation Program, and the Behavioral Health Program
- Participate in providing medical education/training programs for affiliate staff
- Provide medical analysis and ensure submission of Incident Reports
- Assure that the medical/clinical staff contributes to achieving PPLA’s customer service and productivity goals and benchmarks
- Oversee the quality and use of the Electronic Medical Record and Practice Management system
- Oversee the maintenance of medical records
- Provide consultation to health center and affiliate administrative staff
