Managing Director – Kronos Performing Arts Association

Kronos Performing Arts Association (KPAA), the non-profit organization of San Francisco’s world-renowned Kronos Quartet, seeks a dynamic, resourceful, and committed leader to serve as its Managing Director. This position will guide the organization into its second half-century of innovative music-making combined with unflagging devotion to social justice and a shared, sustainable future for the planet and its inhabitants.

Reporting to the KPAA Board, the Managing Director will collaborate closely with the Board and Quartet on all aspects of strategic and operational planning and implementation, including playing a key role in the execution of artistic projects and education programming. They will supervise the staff and oversee relationships with consultants and other collaborators. They will also join the Quartet in managing strong working partnerships with artistic partners, composers, presenters, and community groups. They will help lead and participate in setting and achieving fundraising goals and oversee organizational identity and promotional campaigns. As senior administrative leader, the Managing Director will manage KPAA’s finances, oversee day-to-day operations, and lead KPAA’s human resources function.

The Managing Director will also serve as manager of the Kronos Quartet, working in close consultation with Quartet members to perform duties such as: retain and oversee booking agents, communicate and negotiate directly with presenters and artist partners, manage the Quartet’s recorded output, and promote the Quartet at booking conferences and other industry gatherings.
