The Huckleberry Youth Health Center (HYHC) is located at 555 Cole St. in the Upper Haight neighborhood of San Francisco. HYHC is a collaborative effort involving HYP and San Francisco Department of Public Health’s Community Health Programs for Youth (CHPY). HYP’s services and programs at the Center include health education, case management, therapy, and behavioral health groups. CHPY staff provide primary and reproductive health care in addition to therapy.

JOB OVERVIEW:

The Client Services Manager is a member of the Client Services team at the Huckleberry Youth Health Center. This position oversees the overall day to day operations of the Client Services team.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

  1. Manage the day to day operations of the Client Services team. The Client Services Team provides the following services: case management, therapy, screenings to determine service and mental health needs in coordination with the medical team, checking-in clients for their appointments, answering the phone, logging client visits, outreach, groups, and engaging with clients in the waiting area.
  2. Supervise the Client Services team. Team members include: case managers, embedded therapist and the Youth Engagement Specialist. Supervision includes providing individual supervision sessions to each team member weekly, facilitating weekly team meetings, ongoing training/ coaching and professional development plan and activities for each team member.
  3. Recruit and hire members of the Client Services Team in conjunction with the Director of Health Services and Director of Human Resources. Conduct initial onboarding training with new hires.
  4. Ensure all required documentation is completed by the Client Services team. Ensure monthly log is up to date and assign new clients as needed to case managers.
  5. Review data regularly to monitor progress towards goals. In conjunction with the Director of Health Services, perform program evaluation activities. 
  6. Complete required reports for agency and funders as directed.
  7. Assist in the development of proposals for renewed or new funding in collaboration with the Director of Health Services, Director of Health and Safety, and Director of Development.
  8. Promote HYHC’s services through outreach to youth, community agencies, City departments, and schools. Look to develop new partnerships for service delivery. Represent agency and team in community convenings as directed by the Director of Health Services.
  9. Ensure adequate staff coverage for HYHC, including front desk coverage. Cover front desk duties as needed.
  10. Facilitate in conjunction with the Client Services team, the Frontline Workers meeting, a community convening to share resources and training.
  11. Maintain a team manual with policies and procedures, update as needed.
  12. Coordinate purchasing and expenses with the Director of Health Services. Provide required financial documents.
  13.  Ensure effective cross collaboration with staff of other teams at the Huckleberry Youth Health Center site.
  14. Participate in weekly supervision with the Director of Health Services. Participate in site meetings and agency meetings: XMT, San Francisco Management, and All Hands, and other meetings as directed by the Director of Health Services.
  15. Other duties as assigned by the Director of Health Services.

  5. Familiarity and ability to apply harm reduction strategies.
  6. Ability to perform tasks and responsibilities in a thorough and timely manner in compliance with agency policy and standards and this job description. 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This position operates out of the Huckleberry Youth Health Center (HYHC). This role includes driving and the use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. HYHC is located in San Francisco and is accessible by public transportation. The position requires in person work daily.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The employee must be able to lift and/or carry up to 10 pounds unassisted on an occasional basis. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear and sit. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk and use hands to find, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls. The employee is occasionally required to drive a vehicle.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or similar degree
  2. Minimum two (2) years experience providing case management with youth from diverse backgrounds 
  3. Minimum two (2) years managing staff or interns, particularly those at the beginning of their careers

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  1. Master’s in Social Work
  2. Bi-lingual capability (Spanish/Cantonese) preferred.
  3. Previous experience working in an adolescent clinic or other health setting
  4. Familiarity with San Francisco services and resources for youth

ADDITIONAL ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

1. Recent TB clearance

2. Valid CA driver’s license & clear DMV record

3. Have or will complete first aid/CPR training

4. Fully vaccinated for COVID 19
