Job Description: Director of Expanded Learning

Reporting to: Senior Vice President of Student and Family Services

 

Summary: Working across our 9 Bright Star schools, and in coordination with leadership and operations teams, develops and oversees the planning, implementation, operation, budget, evaluation and supervision of all After School Programs.

Qualifications & Experience:

▪       At least five years working in an educational setting in progressive roles

▪       At least 2 years of Supervisory/Management experience

▪       Categorical and program budget management experience

▪       Ability to work collaboratively with communities and parent stakeholders

▪       (Preferred) Fluent in Spanish and/or Korean

▪       Bachelor’s Degree

▪       (Preferred) Experience managing program and compliance aspects of either 21st Century Community Learning Center Grant or After School Education and Safety (ASES) grant at multiple program sites

Responsibilities:

●      Coordinate all Expanded Learning Programs in conjunction with site principals.

●      Provide district level direction to multi-site expanded learning programs, individual site based expanded learning programs managers and community partner organizations to ensure comprehensive, collaborative service planning and programming.

●      Administer and monitor complex, interagency project budgets from a variety of funding sources and facilitate budget revision requests to the funding sources as needed. Current funding sources include federal and state funding 21st Century Community Learning Center Grant, After School Education and Safety Grant, and Expanded Learning Opportunities Program funding.

●      Act as liaison to federal and state Project Officers and coordinate the preparation of required program reports to the funding sources.

●       Follow all program guidance, maintain proper record keeping, facilitate any audits of these records including Federal Program Monitoring and annual fiscal audit.

●      Establish a sustainable strategic plan, maximize blended funding opportunities and coordinate efforts to research, explore and pursue additional private and public funding sources to insure ongoing continuation of the programs beyond the termination of grant funds.

●      Develop and implement a cross-agency and cross-site team-building, staff development plan.

●      Observe, evaluate and hold accountable to a level of excellence all site specific extended learning program leaders

●      Coordinate project evaluation activities in collaboration with the Department Research Evaluation and Assessment. Participate in the review of individual and system outcomes and ongoing evaluation of program effectiveness.

●      Engage in the cycle of inquiry for continuous program improvement and to provide data for LCAP and other reports as needed.

●      Work collaboratively with community agencies and parents

Salary and Benefits:

Salary:                BSS salary is based on experience and education. Starting range $80,000 – $90,000.

Status:              Full Time, 12-month calendar; Work schedule would be 9:30a.m. – 6:30pm (with some flexibility)

Start Date:       An exceptional candidate will assume a full-time role no later than October 1, 2022.
