POSITION SUMMARY/OVERVIEW

We are seeking committed and passionate individuals to be group leaders in our after school program. In this role you will lead academic and enrichment activities as part of our afterschool team in Sausalito Marin City School District. As a group leader, you will guide, support and mentor up to 25 youth daily. You will be part of a creative team that builds community, engages students and works for equity in education. Start date is in early August 2022.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Some experience working with children age 5-13
  • Ability to reliably commute to southern Marin County
  • Commitment to educational equity 
  • Ability to work in a collaborative environment
  • Availability Monday through Friday during after-school program hours (approx. 2pm-6pm) (Availability all 5 days is required)
  • Lead, participate, and engage in group activities with students

  • You must have the physical, visual, and auditory ability to perform the essential functions of the position/job/role with or without reasonable accommodations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Program Planning and Implementation

  • Support and maintain the emotional well-being of the students
  • Be a positive role model for students
  • Work closely with the Program Coordinator and school site staff to track students progress
  • Effectively utilize prep time to prepare for activities and classroom observation
  • Lead fun and engaging activities
  • Run community circle to start each afternoon 
  • Ability to collaboratively create supportive and fun learning environment with students and staff
  • Responsible for maintaining a safe environment for students
  • Provide daily homework assistance
  • Provide a safe environment

Family, Student and Staff Engagement 

  • Communicate with families, teachers, school day staff and administration, volunteers and partners.
  • Keep families informed about program updates and events 
  • Contact families regarding student successes and challenges

Event Planning and Support

  • Responsible for planning a different enrichment activity class for each day/week
  • Support and lead event execution for weekly/monthly events 
  • Work occasionally in person or virtual evenings and or weekends with program participants and their families.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

  • Pay rate: $25 an hour
  • Hours a week: 18-20 hours, M-F, 2-6 pm on site
