The Opportunity

Aim High is seeking a creative writer and detail-oriented project manager to serve as its Communications Manager. Reporting to the Director Development, this position will lead the execution of  internal and external communications ensuring consistent and engaging messaging. We need a passionate communications manager who can set us up for success for our current needs and as we prepare to scale to impact more students and engage with more stakeholders.

Drive all communications

  • Through direct execution or project management, this role will be responsible for generating high-quality content for internal and external audiences, including newsletters, blog posts, social media content, recruitment collateral, fundraising collateral, and content to support donor stewardship, and the like. 
  • Create and drive the processes and systems to be able to regularly deliver content for a diverse set of stakeholders.
  • Project management of communications projects through a collaborative approach that gathers stakeholders input and determines how best to meet brand and communications standards.
  • Create evergreen templates that can be used throughout the organization for communications needs
  • Manage the organization website copy, ensuring it communicates the organization’s values, strategic approach, and program design in a compelling and accurate manner.
  • Manage and own all social media accounts and presence through the development of a strategic messaging calendar. 
  • Drive the creation of strategic communications goals and objectives that will help further the organization’s goals.
  • Create content quickly and make adjustments based on organizational needs
  • Lead the creation of collateral to ensure that it is consistent with Aim High’s brand and messaging
  • Manage external consultants, vendors, and resources – specifically graphic designers, photographers, videographers, etc.

Qualifications

You will be successful in this role if you…

  • Possess a deep commitment to the mission and values of Aim High, in particular alignment with Aim High’s ADEI statement
  • Have at least 3-5 years of communications experience; formal education in this space is a plus
  • Successfully designed and executed campaigns and strategies previously
  • Possess exceptional writing skills and a passion for this body of work
  • Have familiarity working in the nonprofit and/or education sector 
  • Hold knowledge of communications best practices
  • Demonstrate experience working with diverse audiences and/or communicating with an equity lens.
  • Are a strong project manager with solid problem solving abilities; ability to meet deadlines
  • Possess analytical and strategic thinking
  • Innately hold a positive, can-do attitude with a propensity for action
  • Bring strong attention to detail 
  • Build and maintain good working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders

JOB DETAILS

  • Reports To: Director of Development
  • Location: San Francisco, CA – must be able to regularly travel to the SF office up to 4 days per week
  • Pay range starts at $70K and will be aligned to market benchmarks
  • Classification: Full-Time (40 hours per week); Exempt from overtime
  • Benefits: 100% employer-paid health insurance (medical/dental/vision) for employees, retirement match, and generous paid time off including a winter closure.
