Overview

Urban Adamah is an educational farm and community center in Berkeley, California that integrates the practices of Jewish tradition, mindfulness, sustainable agriculture, and social action to build loving, just, and sustainable communities. We provide training programs, educational workshops, and community celebrations for more than 10,000 visitors annually.

The Events Manager will provide critical support for the smooth execution of events on the farm including retreats, celebrations, classes, workshops, services, and performances, with an emphasis on Weekend and Evening Events.

In addition to direct event support, the Events Manager will provide administrative and logistical support to the Retreats & Celebrations Director and the Community & Ritual Director in planning, coordinating, and marketing events.

Responsibilities

Cross Departmental Event Production with a Focus on Retreats & Celebrations

  • Manage the seamless execution of events and retreats from signing of contract through post event feedback.
  • Plan and coordinate logistics for events and retreats
  • Independently coordinate and manage onsite activities, staffing needs, event set up and breakdown including furniture, A/V setup, site clean-up and maintenance, etc.
  • Collaborate on troubleshooting and addressing program shortcomings, whether of a programmatic, management, or administrative nature

Event and Rental Administration

  • Administer and track contracts, payments, and billing through to completion
  • Administer and track rental inquiries and collate data
  • Ensure program providers/clients are paid or refunded in a timely manner
  • Communicate with clients, vendors, and event participants from contract signing through security deposit refund.

Support Growth and Development of New Events

  • Assist with market research
  • Assist with building, maintaining, and utilizing mailing lists
  • Assist with creation of marketing materials

Site and Event Management

  • Manage, re-stock and inventory rental equipment and equipment systems (A/V, linens, furniture, etc.)
  • Ensure spaces are properly cleaned and reset after events without impacting other programming
  • Actively collaborate on site upkeep by providing timely feedback to facilities and farm team and doing ongoing minor site upkeep
  • Manage site safety as the lead when solo on site and during weekend/evening programming

Support Staff Management

  • Alongside the Program Associate, co-manage all site hosts—recruit, hire, train, schedule, supervise and troubleshoot to support all events on site.

You take pleasure in helping people to feel welcome and cared for, and you have the attention to detail and personal motivation to make administrative work flawless and comprehensive.

We are open to applicants with varying levels and types of experience, provided that the applicant displays the skills required to successfully execute the job described above. You might be a good fit if you have a background in hospitality and event management.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

This is a full-time, benefitted, and exempt position that includes healthcare, holidays, and paid time off. The salary range for this position is $68,000–72,000 per year.

Comprehensive benefits include:

SCHEDULE

This is a full-time, 40 hour per week position heavily weighted towards weekends and evenings as dictated by the event calendar. This role typically includes Mondays and Tuesdays off, depending on the event calendar and organizational needs. Employee will receive their schedule a minimum of two weeks in advance. In consultation with their supervisor, some flexibility exists once event and office needs are met.
