Regional Development Manager

The Opportunity

The Regional Development Manager works on a range of priorities, including: developing and linking fund development strategies; advancing donor cultivation and communication practices. The Manager will work with senior and executive leadership to develop and implement a comprehensive regional giving strategy that consistently meets agreed-upon goals in alignment with departmental objectives, CEO’s strategic plan, and central budget needs. They will play a lead role in creating compelling fund development strategies and ensuring those strategies are effectively represented in concept papers, grant proposals, donor communications, etc. They pilot new approaches to development and donor engagement, and create the resources needed to build internal capacity for grant writing and fundraising across the organization.

CEO’s Staff Vaccination Policy

Who We Are

The Center for Employment Opportunities (CEO) provides employment services to people with recent criminal convictions. Across the United States, over 6,000 people participate in CEO each year, transitioning to employment that supports themselves, their families, and their communities.

What began as a demonstration project of the Vera Institute of Justice in the 1970s to address employment barriers facing the formerly incarcerated following release in New York City has grown into the leading reentry employment organization in the country, where over 25,000 formerly incarcerated individuals have secured full-time employment since 1996. In 2016, CEO embarked on a 5-year strategic plan to grow to serve 9,000 participants annually. 

 

Who You Are

  • You have 4+ years experience in nonprofit fund development, programs, and/or strategic communications with a proven track record of success in project management
  • You are committed to CEO’s mission and are interested in working in a fast ­paced, growing, results oriented nonprofit environment
  • You have previous people management experience 
  • You have strong organizational skills with an attention to detail
  • You have fluency in use of Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Workspace
  • You have proficiency or experience using data and/or donor management platforms such as Salesforce
  • You have excellent time management, organizational, and follow-up skills
  • You have superior writing and strategic communication skills
  • You have the ability to support and coach others when it comes to producing quality content
  • You have the ability to effectively lead a team to meet tight deadlines, re-prioritizing as needed, communicating potential conflicts before they arise, and balancing and executing on feedback from a variety of collaborators
  • You possess the understanding of the importance of using metrics to drive performance and identify potential improvement areas
  • You have the ability to lead a diverse team, hire, onboard, and coach staff toward continuous improvement and attainment of goals

 

What You’ll Be Responsible For

Key responsibilities of the (title) include but are not limited to:

Strategy and Planning Support

  • Work with the Senior Director of Development and Chief External Affairs Officer to develop strategic and tactical regional approaches that build CEO’s fund development pipeline (across foundation, corporate, government, and individual giving) and successfully leverage resources to support growth
  • Support fund development learning and sharing across jurisdictions, including implementation of site work plans, target identification, pitch and proposal preparation and follow ups, effective stewardship of awarded grants, and exchanging best/promising practices that support site-level fund development execution and capacity building
  • Serve as the lead writer, editor, and project manager for select high-dollar or high-importance regional funding opportunities
  • Engage directly with funders to prospect grant opportunities and report on outcomes

Team Management and Support 

  • Manage, evaluate, support, and coach a team of Associates
  • Organize professional development opportunities for Associates that build a strong team culture, reduce turnover, and improve staff satisfaction
  • Conduct workflow analysis and lead initiatives designed to increase efficiencies and solve problems using project management best practices
  • Lead after action reviews to assess the processes and outcomes of assigned projects using data and qualitative input
  • Perform other development, strategic communication, and business development project-related tasks as assigned by the Senior Director of Development and senior staff

Quality Assurance and Process Improvement

  • Maintain accurate and timely regional funding pipeline and outcome data
  • Ensure that proposals, reports, and other written products contain up-to-date information/language, are edited, are of the highest quality, and are submitted on time and error-free
  • Work with program and central administration colleagues to problem-solve and improve workflows
  • Ensure that information is regularly and accurately updated in CEO’s Salesforce system and other tracking tools

 

Compensation and Benefits  

The salary range for this position is $80,000-91,400 annually CEO’s compensation philosophy considers a variety of factors including experience, internal equity, and the labor market associated with the city in which the position is located. This position can be located in any of the cities in which CEO operates. The labor markets associated with the cities in which CEO is based are variable, and the salary range included here reflects this. Our salary offer will fall within this range and will be reflective of the labor market of the city in which the position is based, as well the other factors named above.
